ERIE, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling team returned to the mat on Sunday to open the 2019 portion of their schedule and dropped a pair of dual matches against Lake Erie and Mercyhurst.
 
ESU (2-3, 0-2 PSAC) opened the day by falling 41-4 against the Lake Erie College Storm (4-1) and finished with a 59-0 defeat at the hands of the Mercyhurst University Lakers (4-0, 2-0 PSAC), who hosted the tri-match
 
The dual between the Warriors and Storm started with a double forfeit at the 125-pound bout and would follow with Lake Erie taking a 6-0 lead thanks to Forrest Glogouski pinning ESU's Nick Reto at the 4:27 mark. Redshirt senior Dylan Nace responded with an 11-3 major decision against Andrew Lieb to trim the ESU deficit to 6-4.
 
Lake Erie would tally victories in each of the seven remaining bouts to secure the 41-4 victory over the Warriors.
 
In the second dual of the day for ESU, the Warriors faced PSAC member Mercyhurst, who entered the match unbeaten on the season. The Lakers recorded six victories by fall in the match and one via technical fall. The Warriors also forfeited three bouts in the dual.
 
The Warriors return to the mat on Friday for a PSAC matchup against nationally-ranked No.4 Pitt-Johnstown at 7 p.m. in Johnstown, Pa. ESU then heads to Kutztown, Pa. on Jan. 18-19 for the two-day Kutztown Duals.
