CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University cross country teams both had strong showings at the DeSales University Invitational on Saturday. The men's team won its second consecutive meet, claiming first place in the 8k event, while the women's team placed second in the 6k.
The ESU men combined for a time of 2:11.54, as they registered 28 team points to finish ahead of Ohio Wesleyan (2:13.23 – 63 pts) and host team DeSales (2:15.09 – 80 pts).
Casey Ellis was again the top finisher for the Warriors, crossing the line in 25:44.9 to place first in the individual standings. Ellis' time was the fastest ever on the course by an ESU runner since the Warriors' first time competing there in 2000
Teddy Mostellar took third place with a time of 26:20.9,
Jeremy Smith registered a fifth-place showing in 26:23.8, and
Ben Reisenweaver placed sixth with a time of 26:29.1.
Next up for the Warriors was Nate Senatore (26:56.0) in 13
th place, Andrew Lopez (27:06.6) in 20
th and
Dylan Senatore (27:07.6) in 21
st.
The women's team took second place with a combined time of 2:00.57 and 54 team points, as they were edged out by Lebanon Valley, which posted 31 points and a time of 1:56.37.
The Warriors had three runners finish among the top-10, led by
Rachael Davalos who placed sixth in 23:32.8.
Mandy Fine finished eighth with a time of 23:58.5, and
Jenna Vledder crossed the line in 24:09.0 to earn a 10
th-place showing.
Also scoring for the Warriors were
Brittany Carratura (24:29.0) in 14
th place, Kylee Stangle (24:48.2) in 16
th,
Emily Eder (25:01.5) in 18th, and
Kaylene Raczka (25:20.0) in 21
st.
Both the men's and women's teams have this coming week off from competition before getting set for the PSAC Championships held at Bloomsburg University on October 25 at 10 a.m.
