PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University women's tennis team closed the 2019-20 portion of its fall schedule on Tuesday afternoon with a matchup against Holy Family. The Warriors tallied a 4-3 victory after winning three singles matches against the Tigers.
ESU (1-5) recorded the crucial doubles point in the match after getting victories from senior
Aubrianna Stetina and junior
Amanda Jackson at the No. 1 position and senior
Ivanna Pittman and junior
Quinn McCluskey at the No. 2 spot.
Stetina and Jackson recorded a 6-3 win against Alleyn Llaban and Meghan Moyer, while Pittman and McCluskey outlasted the duo of Latifah Hinawy and Nathalie Rivera in a thriller, 7-6.
In singles action, Stetina notched a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Moyer at the No. 2 position for the Warriors, while Jackson defeated Rivera in three sets – 6-3, 4-6, 10-7.
Junior
Briana Young tallied her first singles victory of the season for the Warriors at the No. 4 spot as she defeated Keisha Bowman 6-0, 6-4. McCluskey dropped a tough decision against Llaban at the No. 1 spot after winning the opening set 6-4. Llaban rallied to win the second set 6-0 and secure the victory with a 6-3 win in the third set.
The Warriors will await the start of their spring season after finishing 4-6 during the 2018-19 season. ESU went 5-9 overall last season and recorded wins against Caldwell, Shepherd, Stockton, Albany State, and Shippensburg.
