EAST STROUDSBURG – The second-ranked East Stroudsburg University women's field hockey team scored three goals in the first period on Saturday en route to a 6-1 victory on Senior Day and Homecoming against Mansfield in a PSAC matchup.
ESU (14-1, 7-0) was one of two teams that secured their sport in the 2019 PSAC Field Hockey Championship, joining West Chester (14-0, 7-0) who won earlier in the day. The Warriors honored their 2019 Senior Class prior to the start of the contest against the Mountaineers (

The Warriors received a pair of goals from sophomore
Celeste Veenstra while getting one goal each from Conway, Martini, sophomore
Hannah Barbush, and sophomore
Morgan Mesenbrink. Veenstra also added an assist for the Warriors, who held a 23-3 advantage in shots overall and 15-1 margin in shots on goal.
Barbush opened the scoring for ESU in the sixth minute as she took a pass from Martini and beat Mansfield goalkeeper Brittany Ryan. The Warriors doubled their lead at the 13:47 mark of the quarter as Martini tallied her fourth goal of the season to make it 2-0. Veenstra recorded her first goal of the contest at the 14:26 mark to make it 3-0 in favor of ESU and push her consecutive games with a goal scored to seven.
ESU opened the second quarter with a goal just 40 seconds into action as Conway netted her fourth goal of the season for the Warriors. The Warriors would take their 4-0 lead into the half as Mansfield goalkeeper Brittany Ryan made five first-half saves.
Veenstra notched her 19th goal of the season in the fourth quarter to make it 5-0 at the 47:57 mark. Sophomore
Morgan Mesenbrink tallied her third goal of the season after taking a feed from sophomore
Taylor Gramberg to beat Ryan in net.
Mansfield broke onto the scoreboard at the 59:20 mark of the contest as Christie Buyer found the back of the net following a scramble in front of ESU redshirt freshman goalkeeper

Maddie Richie with 2:10 left to play.
Richie improved to 13-1 on the season in net for the Warriors despite not making any saves in the contest, while Ryan suffered the loss after stopping nine shots out of 15 attempts.
ESU will look to keep its seven-game winning streak alive on Tuesday when the Warriors host No. 1 West Chester at Whitenight Field beginning at 3 p.m. The Warriors then head to Seton Hill on Saturday before wrapping up the regular season on Oct. 30 at home against Millersville.
