EAST STROUDSBURG –  The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team outscored Edinboro University 51-40 in the second half and senior Tiffany Lapotsky recorded her sixth 20-point game of the season as the Warriors defeated the Fighting Scots 79-68 on Friday in a PSAC crossover matchup at Koehler Fieldhouse.

ESU (6-4, 2-2 PSAC) evened its conference mark on the season and snapped a 17-game losing streak against the Fighting Scots as the Warriors defeated Edinboro for the first time since February 21, 1981. The Warriors also scored a season-high 79 points in the win and shot 54.5 percent from the field (30-of-55).

Lapotsky finished the contest 10-of-13 from the field to go along with five rebounds and four assists. Redshirt sophomore Julia Kutz notched a game-high seven boards to go along with 12 points and five assists for ESU, while senior Jordan Hertz finished with 10 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Hertz is now tied with Marie Schlegel (1996-2000) for second all-time in program history with 435 career assists.

The Warriors trailed Edinboro 19-14 heading into the second quarter as Lapotsky and junior Abby Schoffstall hit back-to-back layups to trim the deficit to 19-18 with 9:30 left in the frame. Edinboro would increase its lead to 28-22 with 4:47 left in the half before junior Kiersten Librizzi drained a 3-pointer to trim the deficit to 28-27.

Redshirt freshman Cassie Ksiazek went 1-of-2 at the free-throw line with 38 seconds left in the half to knot the score 28-28 and cap a 7-0 run for the Warriors heading into the break. ESU shot 42 percent in the quarter, while the Fighting Scots went just 4-of-16 from the field and 1-of-6 from downtown.

Junior Kaitlyn Swint would give ESU a pair of four-point leads early in the third quarter before the Fighting Scots rallied to trim the gap to 34-33 with 6:07 left to play. The lead would change hands several times in the quarter as Edinboro knotted the score with 48 seconds to play before redshirt junior Sadie Cresswell drained a 3-ball with 20 seconds remaining to give the Warriors a 54-51 lead.

The Fighting Scots would rally to even the score twice in the fourth quarter but be unable to take the lead away from ESU as the Warriors pushed their lead to 71-60 with 4:14 left in the contest. Hertz delivered five consecutive points for the Warriors to spark the run that would be capped by a pair of made free-throws.

ESU closed the contest a perfect 6-of-6 at the free-throw line to help secure the 79-68 victory as the Warriors improved to 5-1 inside Koehler Fieldhouse this season. The Warriors also set a season-high with 22 assists in the contest as Schoffstall finished with seven.

The Warriors close the 2019 calendar year with a PSAC crossover matchup against Mercyhurst beginning at 5:30 p.m. inside Koehler Fieldhouse. ESU will look to make it two straight wins against Mercyhurst after defeating the Lakers last season, 65-64.
