CoSIDA Release
EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University's Monica Wood has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Third Team, as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.
Wood is one of just 33 women's soccer student-athletes recognized across Division II, and is one of four players in the PSAC to earn the honor along with Kristina Miller of Kutztown and Jordyn Minda and Emma Yoder of Slippery Rock.
For ESU, Wood becomes the fourth women's soccer Academic All-America selection in program history, joining Nicole Abbott, Andrea Polanco and Hannah Gombos. Abbott was recognized last season, while Polanco and Gombos earned the distinction in 2016.
Wood holds a 3.93 cumulative GPA as a business management major at ESU, and has played in 65 career games over three seasons with the Warriors. The Lehighton, Pennsylvania native has racked up 22 career goals and 11 assists during her time at ESU.
During the 2019 campaign, Wood topped the squad in all three scoring categories with 19 points on seven goals and five assists. She tallied a pair of game-winning goals on the year in victories over Bloomsburg and Lock Haven, and also netted the team's lone goal in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament against Millersville.
The Warriors have now had 52 student-athletes combine for 72 Academic All-America selections in ESU Athletics history.
