FERRUM, Va. – The East Stroudsburg University women's wrestling team participated in the programs' first-ever dual meets on Thursday as the Warriors dropped a 38-5 decision against King (Tenn.) University and a tightly contested 25-23 decision against Ferrum College.
In the first dual between ESU and King, freshman
Tatyana Ortiz pinned Aleeah Gould in the 109-pound bout to give the Warriors a 5-0 lead after a double forfeit at 101 pounds. Ortiz trailed Gould 10-2 on the scoreboard before gaining momentum and ultimately pinning Gould. The Tornado also won by forfeit at 136 pounds.
King won via technical fall at 123, 130, and 191 pounds and notched four pins en route to its fifth dual victory of the season.
The Warriors would take a 15-5 lead against Ferrum in their second dual of the day as ESU won by forfeit at 109, 116, and 123 pounds. The Panthers recorded their five points via forfeit at 101 pounds.

Lisa McChesney would be the recipients of the forfeit victories for ESU. The Panthers would gain control of the dual by winning each of the next four bouts, including a pair of pins.
Sophomore
Alyssa Marinaccio and freshman
Shola Cascen tried to rally the Warriors to victory over the course of the final two bouts against Ferrum. Marinaccio defeated Morgan Flinkstrom via a 4-1 decision at 170 pounds, while Cascen pinned Andreia Langley to close the dual at 191 pounds.
King defeated Ferrum in the other dual matchup of the day as the Tornado remained perfect on the season with a 43-5 decision against the Panthers.
ESU hosts its first-ever women's dual inside Koehler Fieldhouse on Jan. 15 against the Nassau Community College Lions beginning at 7 p.m. The Warriors then head to Tiffin, Ohio for a dual against the Dragons on Jan. 24 beginning at 4 p.m.
