KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Four new PSAC qualifying marks were set for the East Stroudsburg University men's track and field program on Friday at the Kutztown Last Chance Qualifier. The Warriors also recorded six individual victories.
ESU secured the top-four positions in the 55-meter dash as senior
Akeim Thomas paced the field with a personal-best and PSAC qualifying time of 6.53. Junior
Nick Lawrence's time of 6.58 was a personal-best and also qualified him for the PSAC championships, while freshman
Brendan Shaffer placed third with a time of 6.62. Junior
Jamal Cooley finished fourth for ESU and delivered a personal-best and PSAC qualifying time of 6.65.
Senior
Khai Samuels delivered the fourth PSAC qualifying mark for the Warriors, placing first in the 400-meters with a time of 51.95. Freshman
Eric Krzyzaniak finished third for ESU with a time of 54.06.
In the long jump, junior
Darnell Randall delivered the second-longest jump in program history and a first-place finish with a mark of 24-0 1/4. Randall, who already recorded an NCAA Div. II provisional mark earlier this season, improved his distance in the event which is the longest so far in the PSAC.
Freshman
Jalen Bailey won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.72. The mark was a personal-best for Bailey and placed him fifth on the all-time list in school history. He also tied the freshman record for the event which was previously held by Rusty Smith (2007).
The Warriors took two of the top three spots in the 3000-meter race as sophomore
Nathan Senatore (9:18.60) crossed the finish line first, while freshman
Josh D'Agostino finished third with a time of 9:48.37.
Freshman
Ben Reisenweaver paced four Warrior runners in the 1000-meter race with a personal-best time of 2:42.52. Freshman
Anthony Buccino (2:44.39), sophomore
Alex Race (2:44.85), and freshman
Luke Valdevit (2:46.10) placed second through fourth for ESU.
Junior
Noah Lockwood set a personal-best in the weight throw with a mark of 47-7 3/4, which improved his initial PSAC qualifying mark of 45-5 1/4.
The Warriors head to Edinboro for the 2019 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held Feb. 23-24. The NCAA Div. II Indoor Championships will be held on Mar. 8-9 in Pittsburg, Kansas.
