EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University men's outdoor track and field program posted 11 overall victories and added three PSAC qualifying marks on Saturday at the 14th annual All-American Meet at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
The Warriors would take the top-three spots in the 400-meter hurdles as freshman
Jalen Bailey ran a personal-best time of 54.19 to pace the field. His time ranks 10th all-time in program history. Junior
Andrew Schumacher finished second with a time of 54.65, while senior
Mike Matrisciano placed third with a personal-best time of 55.25.
ESU would also sweep the top-three spots in the 200-meter dash as senior
Akeim Thomas crossed the line first with a time of 22.13. Junior
Nick Lawrence (22.26) and freshman
Mamadu Bari (22.35) would finish second and third for the Warriors. Both recorded personal-best runs while adding their names to the PSAC qualifiers list in the process.
The Warriors finished first and second in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay races on the day. Senior
Pat Monahan, Thomas, freshman
Brendan Shaffer, and Bailey would finish the 4x100 first with a time of 42.25, while freshman
Sean Roberts, freshman
Brendan Barton, Bari, and Lawrence finished second with a time of 42.60.
Roberts, Bari, Barton, and Bailey would win the 4x400 for the Warriors with a time of 3:18.29 and set the ESU Outdoor Freshman Record in the process. Schumacher, Matrisciano, Thomas, and senior
Khai Samuels placed second with a time of 3:21.04.
Thomas paced three ESU runners that would finish in the top-six of the 110-meter hurdles. Thomas crossed the line first with a personal-best time of 14.96, while Matrisciano (14.97) and freshman
Daniel Daley (16.02) placed second and sixth with personal-best runs.
Monahan would win the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.08 for ESU, while Shaffer finished fourth with a time of 11.23. Roberts and junior
Colin Crosbie each set personal-bests in the 400-meter race. Roberts placed third with a time of 49.98, while Crosbie finished fifth with a PSAC qualifying time of 50.44.
In field events, sophomore
Dominic Walton would win the shot put with a mark of 52-11 1/2, while junior
Noah Lockwood finished second with a mark of 47-2 1/4. Freshman
Justin Miller set a personal-best in the long jump with a mark of 23-2 1/2 as he would take the title over junior
Darnell Randall, who finished second with a mark of 22-4 1/4.
Sophomore
Dan Amari won the pole vault for the Warriors with a mark of 14-5 1/2, while Miller would again top the field in the triple jump with a mark of 46-9. Freshman
Carlos Pepin won the high jump with a mark of 6-3 1/2, while Randall finished second with a mark of 6-1 1/2.
The Warriors travel to Philadelphia on Thursday to participate in the 125th annual Penn Relays. The three-day event is hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. ESU will also compete at the Lehigh Games and the Lock Haven Last Chance Qualifier before heading to Mansfield for the PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, May 9-11.
