BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior
Aspen Gaita won the women's 100-meter hurdles and junior
Sam Giangrasso recorded the ninth-best mark in school history in the hammer on Saturday at the Carol & John Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University.
Gaita crossed the finish line first in her heat and notched the fastest overall time with a mark of 14.51, while freshman
Jeanette Jones placed fifth with a time of 15.62. Gaita also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.29.
Giangrasso recorded a personal-best mark of 147-6 to place fifth in the hammer for the Warriors, while junior
Barbara Grossov added a personal-best mark of 141-9 to finish in sixth-place. Junior
Alexis Schuldes added her name to the list of PSAC qualifiers in the event with a mark of 139-4.
Sophomore
Mandy Fine ran to a third-place finish for the Warriors in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 19:40.98, while sophomore
Maura Daltwas placed ninth with a time of 21:00.14.
In the 400-meter hurdles, junior
Allyson Stitzer finished fourth with a time of 1:06.18, while Jones finished fifth with a time of 1:06.19. Freshman
Jalen Rhodes ran a personal-best time of 13.09 in the 100-meter dash for ESU, while junior
Jenna Vledder set a personal-best in the 1,500-meter race with a time of 5:10.28.
The Warriors had a pair of runners set personal-bests in the 800-meter race as senior
Samantha Young placed eighth with a time of 2:20.84, while junior
Sarah Klag finished 17th with a time of 2:25.71.
Senior
Carly Gregas recorded a second-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 5-3, while freshman
Zionette Salahuddin finished 12th in the discus with a personal-best mark of 104-7.
The Warriors travel to Lock Haven on Saturday for the Lock Haven Last Chance Qualifier. The PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 9-11 in Mansfield.
