EAST STROUDSBURG – Highlighted by a first-place showing from sophomore
Josselinne Campos at 130 pounds, the East Stroudsburg University women's wrestling team had seven wrestlers compete at The Shogun Challenge on Sunday at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
Campos won her opening bout via tech fall as she defeated Tarnpreet Saroya 10-0. She would face Saroya again in the first-place match and win via fall in a time of 3:49 to capture the 130-pound title.
Freshman
Tatyana Ortiz recorded a second-place finish for the Warriors at 109 pounds. Ortiz went 1-1 on the day and would advance to the title bout following a 10-6 decision in the semifinals against Alex Szkotnicki. She dropped a 10-0 tech fall decision against Amy Golding in the finals.
Sophomore
Lakiesha Sullivan also recorded a second-place showing for the Warriors as she went 2-1 at 123 pounds. Sullivan opened the day with a 5-2 decision against Alisia Scipioni and advanced to the championship bout following a win by injury default. She would fall via 10-0 tech fall in the title bout against Anya Knappenberger.
At 155 pounds, sophomore
Alyssa Marinaccio would go 2-0 for ESU as she recorded a pair of wins via fall against fellow Warriors wrestler and freshman
Bri Simsic.
Freshman
Timmory Pisciotta won her final bout of the day via fall (1:08) against Addy Coates-Cooney. Pisciotta dropped each of her first two bouts against Zoe Gress and Lauryn Jacques to open the day.
Freshman
Shola Cascen went 2-2 on the day and rallied for a pair of victories against Mariah Williams and Alessande Anderson. Her win via fall (0:51) against Anderson would send her to the final round. Cascen would be pinned at the 2:00 mark by Amanda Pace.
The Warriors return to the mat on Friday as they travel to Tiffin, Ohio for a dual against the Tiffin Dragons beginning at 4 p.m.
