ESU Women’s Wrestling Defeats Springfield Tech in Dual Action, 32-6

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Warriors recorded four victories via fall on Sunday as the East Stroudsburg University women's wrestling program defeated Springfield Technical Community College 32-6.
 
ESU (1-3) recorded its first dual victory as the Warriors tallied five contested victories against the Rams. Both teams forfeited at 101 pounds, while ESU won via forfeit at 109, 130, and 155 pounds. STCC won via forfeit at 191 pounds.
 
Leading 5-0 in the match, sophomore Lakiesha Sullivan delivered an 8-6 decision for the Warriors with a victory against Katlin Wells to make it 8-1. Freshman Joanne Ortiz followed with a pin of STCC's Olivia Meehan to increase the Warriors' lead to 13-1.
 
Following a forfeit by the Rams at 130 pounds, the Warriors added to their lead as freshman Timmory Pisciotta pinned Adaline Coates-Cooney to make it 23-1. Sophomore Alyssa Marinaccio won her bout at 142 pounds via pin to give ESU a 26-1 lead in the match.
 
Freshman Shola Cascen delivered the final points of the match for the Warriors as she recorded a pin against STCC's Mariah Williams to make it 32-1. The Rams tallied five points at 191 pounds as Emmy Beato would be victorious via forfeit and trim the deficit to 32-6.
 
ESU has added a dual against Gannon on February 29 as the Warriors will travel to Erie, Pennsylvania for a 1 p.m. matchup.
 
The Women's National Collegiate Wrestling Championships will be held in Adrian, Michigan on March 6-7. Adrian College will serve as the host of the inaugural tournament.
