ERIE, Pa. – Freshman Tatyana Ortiz was one of four East Stroudsburg University women's wrestlers that tallied a victory on Saturday against nationally-ranked No. 7 Gannon in a dual matchup as the Warriors dropped a 23-19 decision against the Golden Knights.
 
ESU (1-4) opened the match with some early momentum after winning at 109 pounds and 116 pounds. The Golden Knights answered by winning three consecutive bouts to take the lead in the match and would win five bouts overall against ESU.
 
Following a double forfeit at 101 pounds, sophomore Lakiesha Sullivan would be victorious at 109 pounds via forfeit for the Warriors. Ortiz, who entered her bout ranked seventh nationally, recorded a fall against Mikayla Vega in 2:53.
 
The Golden Knights won by forfeit at 123 pounds before Mikayla Dockweiler pinned sophomore Josselinne Campos in 3:44 to swing the momentum for Gannon. The Golden Knights delivered a tech fall victory at 136 pounds.
 
Sophomore Alyssa Marinaccio won her bout at 143 pounds to get ESU back into the win column as she pinned Gannon's Jezebel Garcia in 2:50. Freshman Shola Cascen tallied ESU's other victory as she won by decision against the Golden Knights' Daniela Morales Dardon.
 
Gannon received a pair of victories at 155 pounds and 191 pounds from nationally-ranked wrestlers as No. 6 Annabelle Helm notched an 8-1 decision at 155, while No. 8 Kendall McGarity won by forfeit at 191.
 
The Women's National Collegiate Wrestling Championships will be held in Adrian, Michigan on March 6-7. Adrian College will serve as the host of the inaugural tournament that will feature collegiate women's wrestling programs from all over the country.
