EAST STROUDSBURG -- Despite leading in shots and shots on goal, the East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team could not capitalize, falling to No. 24 West Chester, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
The Warriors fall to 5-5-1 and 4-5-1 in PSAC East play, while the nationally-ranked Golden Rams improve to 7-2-1, 7-2-1 in league play.
Notables
- The Warriors held an advantage in shots (19-14) and shots on goal (8-7).
- ESU also posted six corner kicks to WCU's five.
- Mauri Jackson made five saves, while counterpart Hayley McGee totaled eight saves on the afternoon.
- Rebecca Kotula led ESU with six shots, while Natalie Schooley added four scoring chances.
- ESU previously fell to WCU, 2-1, in double overtime earlier this season on Sept. 15.
How It Happened
- 30:36 | WCU's Jacqueline Hug would take over possession in the Golden Rams offensive end. Hug would move from the far side to center of the field, before send a backwards pass to Kaitlynn Haughey. Haughey accepted possession and sent an impressive deep shot past off of Jackson's fingertips to the upper left of the net.
- 65:21 | Hug would tally another assist, this time finding Julia Raybold on a one-time pass. Raybold immediately fired to the lower left part of the net, just outside the grasp of a diving Jackson.
Up Next: ESU returns to action on Saturday, when the Warriors head to Kutztown. The contest is set to start at 1:00 p.m. at Keystone Field.
