Volleyball Welcomes Bloomsburg on Tuesday for PSAC Quarterfinal Match

EAST STROUDSBURG – The one-seeded East Stroudsburg University volleyball team will welcome fourth-seeded Bloomsburg for a PSAC East Quarterfinal match on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. inside Koehler Fieldhouse.

The Warriors (17-9, 12-2) are looking to defend their 2019 PSAC title after making its third-straight appearance in the conference tournament. ESU recorded double-digit conference wins for the fourth time in program history.

With an ESU victory, the Warriors would host the semifinals and championship games on Friday and Saturday. The #1/4 East winner will play the #2/3 West winner. The #1/4 West winner will play the #2/3 East winner. Games times for Friday are 5:00/7:30 p.m. and the championship is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS

- The reigning PSAC Champions finished the regular season by winning nine consecutive matches, which included sweeps in eight of those nine contests

- The Warriors are second in the PSAC in digs per set (19.00) and 11th in all of Division II

- ESU is led by three-time PSAC Athlete of the Week Ali Finch. Finch has a team-high 189 kills, 753 assists, five triple doubles and is second on the team in digs (298) and blocks (78.0). The senior’s five triple doubles ranks fifth nationally and among PSAC ranks, Finch is 10th in assists per set and 11th in total assists

- Senior Emily Meredith paced ESU with 482 digs on the season and the 1,631 in her career are the third most in program history. Meredith is seventh in PSAC in total digs and digs per set (5.07)

- Senior Kenzie Guimont leads ESU with 84 blocks and is third on the team in kills (162)

- Kaylee LoPresto is second on the team in kills (166) and third in digs (207)

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES

- The Huskies finished the regular season 12-16 overall and 6-8 in the PSAC East

- Bloomsburg will look to two-time PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week and PSAC dig leader Alyssa Cianciulli. She has recorded 717 digs in 102 sets and averages 7.03 per set.

- Sydney Bell paces the Huskies in kills with 261 and Aydan Espinal has a team-high 406 assists

- As a team, Bloomsburg ranks second in the PSAC in blocks (355)

SERIES HISTORY

This is the third meeting this season between the Huskies and Warriors and the second time in the last five days the teams will square off. In their first meeting at Koehler Field House, ESU rallied from down two sets to defeat Bloomsburg, 3-2. On Friday, the Warriors rolled past the Huskies, 3-0, for the season sweep. 

This is the sixth meeting all-time between ESU and Bloomsburg in a series that only dates back to 2018.

Tuesday’s match will be the first-ever post season contest between the teams.
