EAST STROUDSBURG - The fourth-ranked East Stroudsburg University field hockey team will compete in the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championships Semifinals on Friday at 5 p.m. when it faces undefeated and No. 1 Shippensburg at Millersville University’s Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.
The winner of the semifinal match will face either Assumption or West Chester in the NCAA DII Championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
- ESU earned their fourth straight semifinal appearance after taking down Bentley, 2-1, last Saturday at Whitenight Field
- Veenstra paces the Warriors with 24 points on a team-high 11 goals and two assists
- Barbush has recorded a team-high eight assists and four defensive saves
- Sophomore Amy Supey (16-4) holds a .85 goals against average and a .761 save percentage. Supey notched four shutouts and didn’t allow a goal over 286:54 minutes during a six-game stretch.
- Friday’s matchup will be the sixth NCAA semifinal game in program history

- Shippensburg (18-0) earned a first-round bye and an automatic bid into the NCAA Semifinals after capturing the PSAC Championship
- Shippensburg advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time in school history
- PSAC Athlete of the Year Jazmin Petrantonio leads the Raiders with 36 goals and 10 assists
SERIES HISTORY
Friday will mark the second meeting of the season between ESU and Shippensburg, with the Raiders winning the regular-season matchup, 3-1, back on Sept. 29.
It will be the first meeting between the teams in the NCAA DII Field Hockey Tournament since the 2018 national championship game.
The teams last met in the NCAA semifinals in 2017, with the Raiders coming out on top, 2-1.
Including the PSAC Tournament, Friday’s game marks the 10th postseason meeting all-time between the programs.
