EAST STROUDSBURG -- The East Stroudsburg University swimming team cruised to a dual meet victory over Lock Haven, earning wins in 13 of 14 events to claim a 166-57 win over the Bald Eagles on Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.
The Warriors improve to 4-3 with the win, while Lock Haven falls to 0-4 on the season.
Notables
- Julia Harnish became the third Warrior to qualify for the PSAC Championships this season, posting a time of 1:11.12 in the 100-yd breaststroke. She joins fellow Warriors Sarah Luigard (400 IM) and Avery Fohring (200 Fly) as PSAC qualifiers.
- Emma Billings won a pair of individual events along with serving as legs of the two winning relay teams for ESU. She neared PSAC qualifying times in both the 50 free and 100 free.
How it Happened
- ESU opened the dual meet strong with a victory in the 200-yd medley relay. Jenna Johnson, Julia Harnish, Sarah Luigard and Emma Billings tallied a time of 1:56.95 to give ESU an early 11-4 advantage in team scoring.
- Ellie Parido and Madison Tafe were the lone competitors in the 1650-yd freestyle. Tafe posted a time of 19:50.32 while Parido followed with a time of 21:07.98.
- In the 200-yd freestyle, Gabby Ciesla bested Alexis Rennix from Lock Haven with a time of 2:14.58 to award the Warriors nine points.
- Lock Haven won its lone event in the 100-yd backstroke, with Madison Griffin earning a victory with a time of 1:04.35. ESU was able to take nine team points in the event, with Jenna Johnson (1:05.87), Veronica Ruoff (1:08.85) and Sarah Bansky (1:09.05) taking second through fourth in the event.
- Harnish followed with her impressive PSAC qualifying time in the 100-yd breaststroke, with Avery Fohring taking second and Erin Brandeburg earning a fourth-place finish.
- The lone competitor in the 200-yd butterfly, Luigard clocked a time of 2:29.10.
- Emma Billings won the 50-yd freestyle, posting a 26.11, nearing the PSAC qualifying mark of 25.89. Nina Marchese followed for runner-up honors with a time of 1:00.05. Gabby Ciesla earned fourth-place with a time of 1:03.77.
- Billings earned another victory in the 100-yd freestyle with a time of 56.81, once again nearing the conference qualifying standard of 56.35.
- Johnson earned a victory next for ESU in the 200-yd backstroke, earning the Warriors nine points with a time of 2:22.24, just topping LHU's Griffin, who hit the touch pad at 2:22.77.
- The 200-yd breaststroke was next, with Harnish earning her second win of the day, posting a time of 2:37.99. Brandeburg and Sarah Banksy followed in third and fourth place, respectively.
- Tafe bested her Bald Eagle foe in the 500-yd freestyle, clocking a mark of 5:50.11.
- Marchese earned a win in the 100-yd butterfly, with a time of 1:05.02.
- Luigard was the first to hit the touchpad in the 400-yd individual medley, besting teammate Fohring with a time of 5:00.87. Fohring finished with a time of 5:05.19 for second place.
- The Warriors swept the relays with a mark of 1:46.68 in the 200-yd freestyle relay, with Billings, Tafe, Marchese and Johnson earning the win for ESU.
