EAST STROUDSBURG -- The East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team closed the 2021 season in style, picking up a 5-0 victory over Shepherd on Saturday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
The Warriors complete the 2021 season with a 10-7-1 record, while Shepherd closes the campaign with a 4-11-2 record.
On their senior day, Corryn Gamber registered two goals, while Haley Skove tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Warriors offensively. Natalie Schooley provided a goal and an assist, while Rebecca Kotula also found the back of the net.
The ESU athletic department honored seniors Alexa Cerda, Corryn Gamber, Kelly Harmon, Mauri Jackson, Rachael Miller, Faith Reash, Hailee Reinhardt, Alex Skinner and Haley Skove for their contributions to the program and university. The nine members of the senior class have helped lead the Warriors to a 53-25-6 record since 2017, a PSAC championship and three NCAA tournament appearances. These seniors and graduate students have combined to score 33 goals and 18 assists.
Notables
- With the goal, Skove now is tied with former teammate Monica Wood for ninth all-time in program history with 22 goals. Skove closes her career with 57 total points, holding sole possession of 10th all-time in points for ESU. She started in all 84 games she played in, which is tied with Jules Harris for third all-time in program history.
- Despite the 5-0 win, ESU held a slim advantage in both shots (23-21) and shots on goals (12-11).
- Mauri Jackson made an impressive 11 saves in goal in 84:02 minutes played, before Jessica Jara played the final 5:58 of the contest. The combined shutout was ESU's 8th of the season and the Warriors fifth over the last six games.
- Alessia Bianchini also registered an assist.
- Shepherd's Faith Geraci made seven saves in 90 minutes of action.
How it Happened
- 10:30 | After Reash sent a shot that was saved by Gercaci, Gamber would follow up with a rebound and deposited her first goal of the contest.
- 25:27 | Schooley would send a header over to Skove, who settled the pass and rocketed her final goal of her career from a distant away. The ball went left of the diving Ram goalkeeper.
- 50:11 | Skove would send a perfect pass to Kotula, who would lift a shot over Geraci's head. Geraci was approaching Kotula, as the sophomore deposited her fourth goal of the season.
- 61:54 | After her first shot was blocked, Schooley followed up with another attempt, this time finding the twine for her third goal of the season. Kotula and Schooley finish their first campaign as Warriors with nine points.
- 76:23 | Gamber's final goal of the season came next, as Alessia Bianchini found her in open space in front of the net. Gamber took possession and beat Geraci to her left side as she was approaching.
