Five Warriors Earn NFHCA Division II First Team All-American Honors

GENEVA, N.Y. – On Friday, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association named five East Stroudsburg University field hockey players to its 2022 Division II All-American Teams. Seniors Olivia Breen, Nicole Krozser and Lia Parker as well as junior Amy Supey and sophomore Jady van Gils were honored on the First Team. 

The Warriors led the way with five student-athletes garnering All-American honors. 

Dating back to 2012, the Warriors have had at least one All-American selection by the NFHCA, and it marks the sixth consecutive year with multiple honorees. The handful of First Team selections is also the most for ESU in a single season. 

Serving as a staple on the Warriors’ defense, Breen receives First Team nods after registering seven goals and six assists while making 22 starts. The Stroudsburg, Pa. native recorded four game-winning goals for ESU, including an overtime score against West Chester in the quarterfinals of the PSAC Tournament.

Breen was also named All-PSAC First Team and a PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week (9/6) during the championship run for the Warriors. 

After scoring the game-winning goal to lift the Warriors to their second NCAA championship, Krozser garners All-American honors for the first time in her career. Despite missing three games, the senior was second on the team in scoring with 24 points on 10 goals and four assists.  The Boonton, N.J. native also became a two-time All-PSAC selection this season after being chosen to the Second Team. 

Parker was the third Warrior to earn First Team honors after starting all 22 goals in which she recorded eight goals and four assists. The East Stroudsburg native played a huge role in ESU’s second national championship as she scored a goal in a 3-0 win over Assumption in the semifinals. 

Parker became a two-time All-PSAC selection this season after being named to the Third Team and additionally was the PSAC Athlete of the Week and NFHCA DII Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career back on Nov. 1 & 2.

van Gils adds another honor to her stellar sophomore campaign by being named to the First Team. The Amersfoort, Netherlands native notched a pair of goals and a team-high 10 assists, which included the most important helping hand of the season for the Warriors on Krozser’s game-winning goal in the NCAA title game. 

van Gils scored a crucial goal for ESU during the regular season when she found the back of with one second left to defeat Millersville. Additionally, van Gils earned All-PSAC honors for the first time in her career by landing on the second team. 

Supey garnered First Team honors for the first time in career after turning in one of the top performances by a goalkeeper this season. The Lehman, Pa. native will be the NCAA Statistical champion in both goals against average (0.41) and save percentage (0.873), while also recording 55 saves and seven solo shutouts over 1163 minutes in net. 

Supey recorded a pair of shutouts on the way to ESU capturing their second NCAA DII National Championship back on December 3. Additionally, she was named First Team All-PSAC and the PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week (10/18) this season.

Supey becomes the programs the seventh goalkeeper overall and first since Katie Fox in 2004 to earn All-American honors.

The NFHCA is scheduled to announce the Regional Players of the Year on Monday (Dec. 19) and National Player of the Year on Tuesday (Dec. 20). 

Additionally, Supey (First Team), Breen (First Team), Madison Kline (Second Team), Krozser (Second Team), and freshman Carmen van Kuringe (All-Rookie Team) were honored by Synapse Sports on All-American and All-Rookie squads.
