EAST STROUDSBURG – The third-ranked East Stroudsburg field hockey team used a trio of first half goals to defeat Saint Thomas Aquinas, 3-0, in the 2022 season-opener on Thursday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
The Warriors open the year 1-0 for the 13th time in the last 14 seasons while the Spartans fall to 0-1.

- Senior Nicole Krozser scored the Warriors first goal of the season under two minutes into the game, making it the eighth of her career
- Sophomore Jady van Gils found the back of the net four-plus minutes into the second quarter for the sixth goal of her career
- Freshman Charlotte Simon scored her first career goal in the second quarter
- Sophomore Maddy Barbush collected the first assist of her career on Krozser's score
- Goalkeepers Amy Supey (45:00) and Emma Valinote (15:00, one save) combined for the shutout
- Overall, ESU led 34-3 on shots, 12-1 shots on goal and 18-1 in corners
- STAC goalkeeper Jessie Hohenstein kept the Spartans in the game with nine saves

Olivia Breen, Barbush sent a pass in front of the net where Krozser was able to get her stick on it, before turning to her right and sending a shot into the bottom of the cage for the game's first goal.
19:17 | Following the original pass from the penalty corner that trickled outside the shooting circle, van Gils corralled the ball, dribbled passed the defender to her right and sent a blast that deflected off the goalkeepers' stick into the back of the net to put the Warriors up 2-0.
28:15 | Moving with her ball on the stick at the top of the offensive zone, Simon cleared the defender before taking a step inside the shooting circle and sending a back handed shot thar resulted in a goal, giving ESU a 3-0 lead.
