EAST STROUDSBURG – In its first home meet of the 2023 calendar year, the East Stroudsburg University swimming team fell to Kean by a score of 138-79, on Saturday afternoon inside Koehler Fieldhouse.
Highlighting the meet for the Warriors (2-7), were wins by Vera Renshof in the 50-yd freestyle and the 200-yd freestyle, along with ESU taking the 200-yd freestyle relay in the final event.
How it Happened
- The Warriors took third in the opening event, the 200-yd medley relay, with Jenna Johnson, Rachel Heggenstaller, Avery Fohring and Renshof combining for a time of 1:57.60, finishing less than a second place behind the runner-up.
- In the 500-yd freestyle, the Warriors took second through fourth, with Samantha Grayuskie (5:43.40) pacing ESU, while Maddie Tafe (5:48.42) and Heggenstaller (6:10.52).
- Mia Estep took runner-up in the 100-yd breaststroke, finishing second with the time of 1:11.73.
- Renshof gave ESU its first win on the day in the 50-yd freestyle with a PSAC time of 24.61. Johnson (26.52) and Nina Marchese (27.43) followed in fourth and fifth place.
- ESU took second through sixth place in the 100-yd freestyle, with Jenna Johnson (57.77) and Nina Marchese (59.12), taking second and third place.
- Estep and Heggenstaller led ESU in the 50-yd breaststroke with times of 34.17 and 36.53 for third and fourth place.
- Renshof picked up her second individual win with a time of 1:55.44 in the 200-yd freestyle, nearing an NCAA 'B' time.
- Fohring and Heggenstaller closed the meet with a pair of runner-up performances in the 100-yd butterfly (1:04.34)and the 100-yd individual medley (1:11.14), respectively.
- ESU closed the meet strong with a tight win in the 200-yd freestyle relay by clocking a time of 1:44.19 to add 11 points to its team score.
