Fohring and Grayauskie Post PSAC Qualifying Marks in Dual with Bloomsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG – Highlighted by PSAC Qualifying times by Avery Fohring and Samantha Grayauskie and a pair of wins by Vera Renshof, the East Stroudsburg University swimming team fell to Bloomsburg, 153 to 92 in a dual at Koehler Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors drop to 2-8 in duals on the season, while the Huskies improve to 7-2.

Notables

  • In the 1650 freestyle, Samantha Grayauskie tallied her first career PSAC qualifying time, posting a 19:07.74, besting her seed time of 19:35.30 by nearly 30 seconds. She joins teammate Madison Tafe as conference qualifiers in the mile.
  • Fohring bested a pair of Huskies in the 200-yd butterfly, clocking a mark of 2:15.51 for her first PSAC mark of the season. She is the first Warrior to post a conference qualifying mark in the event in 2022-23.
  • Renshof has continued to dominate in freestyle events, as the freshman from the Netherlands earned first-place finishes in the 200-yd freestyle (1:57.00) and the 100-yd freestyle (53.25).

How it Happened

  • The Huskies picked up a win in the opening relay, the 200-yd medley, posting a time of 1:53.51.
  • The Warriors had three swimmers compete in the 1650-yd freestyle, while the Huskies simultaneously had three swimmers compete in the 1000 freestyle. Grayauskie posted her conference mark to pace ESU, with Alyssa Brown (19:49.87) took second and Rachel Heggenstaller (19:55.94) followed.
  • Renshof picked up her first win of the day with the 200-yd freestyle (1:57.00) besting the runner-up Husky by over seven seconds (Anna Sugra, 2:05.26). Maddie Tafe took fourth place with a mark of 2:10.65.
  • Jenna Johnson took third place as the lone Warrior in the 100-yd backstroke with a time of 1:04.56.
  • In the fifth event, Mia Estep registered a time of 1:12.01 in the 100-yd breaststroke, taking second place in the event. She neared a PSAC mark of 1:11.27.
  • Fohring earned the victory in the 200-yd butterfly, adding nine points with here conference mark of 2:15.51, just edging the second-place Sydney Lloyd who tallied a 2:16.87.
  • Naihomy Garcia led three Warriors in the 50-yd freestyle, nearing a PSAC time with a 26.16 for second place. Nina Marchese grabbed fourth place with a 27.30 time.
  • Renshof picked up her second win in the eighth event, the 100-yd freestyle, recording a time of 53.25, as she looks to close in on an NCAA 'B' time of 52.11. Garcia took third place with a mark of 57.34.
  • Johnston took runner-up honors in the 200-yd backstroke, clocking a 2:21.06 mark which is a season-best for the junior.
  • Estep took second place for the second time of the day in the 200-yd breaststroke, tallying a time of 2:37.27, which is a new season-best. The freshman is close to a PSAC time of 2:36.26.
  • Tafe and Fohring took second place in the next two events, with Tafe leading three Warriors in the 500-yd freestyle (5:47.57). Fohring followed with a 1:01.69 in the 100-yd butterfly, as the two combined for eight points.
  • Rachel Heggenstaller took third place in the final individual event, with a time of 2:26.83 in the 200-yd individual medley.
  • The final event of the day was the 200-yd freestyle relay, with ESU's 'A' team taking third place with a time of 1:43.54.
