ESU Swimming Opens Season with Four PSAC Qualifying Marks at PSAC Fall Invitational, Fall Frenzy

CARLISLE, Pa. – Highlighted by a total of three PSAC qualifying marks from sophomores Vera Renshof and Kennedy Leveto and freshman Anique Hazebroek, the East Stroudsburg University swimming team opened the 2023-24 season at the PSAC Fall Invitational and PSAC Fall Sprint Frenzy on Friday at the Keystone Aquatic Center. The Warriors took fifth place in both meets at the site of the PSAC Championships.

Notables
  • Vera Renshof picked up where she left off her successful freshman season in 2022-23, as the native of the Netherlands placed second in the 50-yd freestyle (24.94) and third in the 100-yd freestyle (55.10) in a pair of PSAC Championship qualifying times. Renshof and Leveto helped ESU to a fourth-place finish in the 200-yd freestyle relay.
  • Kennedy Leveto also booked her trip back to the Keystone Aquatic Center in February with a fifth-place finish in the 100-yd breaststroke (1:09.92). She also took fifth in the 50-yd breaststroke in the PSAC Fall Sprint Frenzy.
  • Anique Hazebroek qualified for the 50-yd freestyle with her role in the 200-yd freestyle relay. Leading the led, she posted a time of 25.55, besting the qualifying mark of 25.83.
How It Happened – PSAC Fall Invitational
  • The Warriors opened the season with the 400-yd medley relay, with the team of Jenna Johnson, Kennedy Leveto, Avery Forhing and Vera Renshof combining for a time of 4:09.99 for sixth place.  Sam Grayauskie, Mia Estep, Emily Gambler and Anique Hazebroek took 14th in the event with a time of 4:23.92.
  • Renshof recorded her first PSAC qualifying mark of the season in the 50-yd freestyle, taking second place among 46 competitors with a time of 24.94. Jenna Johnson took 17th place with a mark of 26.41.
  • Freshman Helia Wang led ESU in the 100-yd individual medley with a time of 1:07.18 for 19th place, while Avery Fohring followed right behind with a time of 1:07.52 for 20th.
  • Anique Hazebroek led ESU in the 100-yd butterfly with a fifth-place performance, just missing out on a PSAC qualifying mark by clocking a time of 1:02.54. Fellow first-year Emily Gambler took 16th place after clocking a mark of 1:04.56.
  • Renshof led the Warriors in 100-yd freestyle with her second PSAC qualifying time of 55.10 for third place in the event. Madison Tafe also clocked a top-20 time with a mark of 59.79 for 19th place.
  • Johnson led the Warriors with a 17th place finish in the 100-yd backstroke, posting a time of 1:06.48.
  • In the 100-yd breaststroke, sophomore Kennedy Leveto qualified for the PSAC Championships by posting a mark of 1:09.92 for fifth place.
  • In the 200-yd freestyle relay, Anique Hazebroek (PSAC Qualifying leg of 25.55), Jenna Johnson, Kennedy Leveto and Vera Renshof took fourth among 19 relay teams with a time of 1:42.00.
