SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Despite leading 16-3 on shots, the East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team could not find the back of the net, falling 1-0, to the Raiders on Saturday afternoon at David See Field.
The Warriors (10-3-3, 8-3-3 PSAC East) turn its head to PSAC East and nationally ranked Kutztown next week. The Raiders (4-12-0, 4-10-0) pick up its third consecutive win.
Notables
- Gabrielle Walker's goal during the 32nd minute of the first half proved to be the difference in the contest. SU's Jenna Folmar helped setup the play and was credited with an assist.
- ESU led in shots (16-3), shots on goal (6-2) and corners (7-2). Both teams were assessed a yellow card.
- Warrior goalkeeper Emmy Clarkson made a pair of saves. SU GK Kendra Barlow made five saves in the win.
- West Chester now holds a four-point lead over ESU for second place in the PSAC East. The Warriors have already clinched one of four spots in the upcoming PSAC Tournament.
How It Happened
- 31' | Walker accepted a through-ball from Folmar in open space. With Clarkson looking to make a stop before Walker could get a shot off, Walker sent a shot past the diving goalkeeper for the lone goal.
