Warriors Take Down Vulcans, Fall to Golden Bears in Kutztown Tri-Meet

ESU took first in five of the 11 events and totaled three PSAC qualifying marks

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – After facing each other at Koehler Fieldhouse on Friday night, the East Stroudsburg University swimming team battled Kutztown and California (Pa.) again in a tri-meet at Keystone Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.

ESU (3-2) defeated California (Pa.), 114-82 and fell to Kutztown, 110-91

Three Warriors combined for four PSAC Qualifying times, as ESU took the top spot in five of the 11 events.

PSAC QUALIFYING TIMES Warrior First-Place Finishers How It Happened
  • ESU took third in the opening event, the 400-yd medley relay. The team of Jenna Johnson, Mia Estep, Emily Gambler and Nina Marchese combined for a time of 4:27.68.
  • Freshman Helia collected her second PSAC qualifying mark with a second-place finish in the 1650-yd freestyle, posting a time of 19:11.23. Madison Tafe followed in third in the event (19:48.07).
  • Fellow freshman Anique Hazebroek took first place in the 200-yd freestyle, hitting the touchpad at 2:02.35. Sam Grayauskie took fifth (2:09.88).
  • Renshof picked up a win in the 50-yd freestyle in the fourth event, with a PSAC mark of 25.02.
  • Wang led ESU in the 200-yd individual medley with a third-place finish (2:22.43).
  • Avery Fohring topped five swimmers in the 200-yd butterfly (2:21.74), finishing nearly six seconds ahead of the runner-up from California (Pa.).
  • Renshof picked up her second victory of the day in the 100-yd freestyle (53.81) with a PSAC mark.
  • Jenna Johnson posted a strong second-place performance in the 200-yd backstroke (2:20.34).
  • Hazebroek tallied her second conference mark of the meet with a runner-up performance in the 500-yd freestyle (5:24.08). Grayauskie took fifth (5:45.51).
  • Mia Estep led three Warriors with a sixth-place finish in the 200-yd breaststroke (2:44.87).
  • The Warriors closed the meet strong with its fifth event win in the 200-yd freestyle relay. Johnson, Grayauskie, Hazebroek and Renshof edged Kutztown's second-place relay team by just over two-tenths of a second in a thrilling ending (1:42.73).

  • ESU is idle from completion until Sat., Nov. 11, when ESU returns to Koehler Fieldhouse to face Lock Haven. The dual meet is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
