LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – East Stroudsburg University women's soccer sophomore goalkeeper Emmy Clarkson has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division Defensive Athlete of the Week for the third consecutive week and fourth time this season, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Clarkson earns her fourth conference defensive athlete of the week honors of the season and seventh overall for her outstanding performance in two shutout victories against Mansfield and West Chester this week. She combined for nine saves on the week, extending her personal and the Warriors' shutout streak to four-consecutive contests. She was a huge factor in ESU earning its first win over West Chester since 2019 and its first over the Golden Rams at Eiler-Martin Stadium since 2012.
Clarkson, a native Walkersville, Maryland, has been a dominant force in goal for the Warriors this season. She has recorded eight shutouts in just 11 contests, including her seventh shutout against Mansfield and her eighth shutout against West Chester
With the honor, Clarkson has now earned the most PSAC East weekly honors seven times in her career, the most in program history, since PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week honors were established in 2019. She leads the PSAC in goals against average (9th nationally, .364), save percentage (8th nationally, .897) and shutouts (3rd nationally, 8).
In her 30 games as a Warrior, Clarkson has achieved 13 shutouts with a 17-7-4 record. She has not allowed a goal over the past 439 minutes of game clock, dating back to the 11th minute against Millersville on Sept. 23.
Clarkson and the Warriors head to Bloomsburg on Wednesday in hopes of matching the program's consecutive shutout streak of five-straight clean sheets.
