EAST STROUDSBURG – After a strong first quarter, the East Stroudsburg University women's basketball fell to Millersville as the Marauders pulled away, 59-43, on Saturday afternoon inside Koehler Fieldhouse.
The Marauders sweep the season series and win their sixth consecutive game, improving to 16-9 overall and 11-8 in the PSAC East while the Warriors fall to 13-12 on the season and 9-10 in the conference.
After falling behind 11-2 less than five minutes into the first quarter, the Warriors battled back by outscoring the Marauders 14-6 the rest of the period to give Millersville a 17-16 lead after the first 10 minutes. It was all Millersville the final three quarters as the Marauders scored 42 points compared to 27 for ESU to earn the double-digit victory.

Notables
- Graduate student Ryan Weise finished with a team-high nine points to go along with four steals, three rebounds, three assists and one block
- Shyla Sanford added seven points, a pair of boards and a steal
- Jessica Polin (three assists, two steals) and Izzy Vogel (five rebounds, two steals, one assist) both had six points
- Katie Geisler, Bianca Giordano, Gwenn Sabato and Lily Sugra each registered two points
- Millersville held the advantage in all three shooting categories, going 23-of-48 (47.9%) overall, 5-of-10 (50.0%) from long distance and 8-of-11 (72.7%) at the charity stripe
- The Warriors finished 19-of-60 (31.7%) from the field, 2-of-12 (16.7%) from three-point territory and 3-of-5 (60.0%) at the free throw line
- Taylor Langan did it all for the Marauders by scoring a game-high 23 points (10-of-13 FG) as well as totaling five steals, four rebounds and four assists. Marin Miller was in double figures with 10 points to go along with three rebounds and two assists
- The teams combined for 50 turnovers with Millersville scoring 23 points off the miscues while ESU had 18 points
- Millersville held the advantage in rebounds, 38-20, but the Warriors outscored the Marauders in the paint, 30-22
- The Warriors maintain hold of the No. 5 seed in the PSAC East standings with three regular season games remaining
- Millersville sweeps ESU for the second straight season and extend their edge in all-time series to 31-60
How It Happened
- The Marauders came out on fire, making five of their first seven shots to build a 11-2 lead. ESU responded out of a timeout as the Warriors proceeded to outscore Millersville, 14-6, over the final 4:52 of the first quarter which gave the Marauders a 17-16 edge.
- Millersville returned to form in the second period, scoring the first six points until Weise converted the Warriors first bucket with a layup at the 4:39 mark to make the score 23-18 in favor of the Marauders. Out of the media timeout, Millersville poured in 10 of the next 13 points for a 33-21 lead at the break.
- The Warriors adjusted out of the break, going on a 5-0 run to trim their deficit to 33-26 at the 8:31 mark. Then over the next three-plus minutes, the Marauders outscored ESU by three points (9-6) to regain a 10-point lead at 42-32. Both teams struggled offensively the remainder of the third quarter as Millersville held a 47-34 advantage into the final 10 minutes.
- The Marauders put the game out of reach to open the fourth quarter as an 8-0 helped extend their lead 55-34. Over the last five minutes of the game, ESU scored nine of the final 13 points but Millersville held on for the 59-43 victory.
