ESU Swimming Wraps Up Regular Season with Tri-Match against Felician, Kutztown

EAST STROUDSBURG – In the final meet before the PSAC Championships, the East Stroudsburg University swimming team fell to Kutztown (165-74) and Felician (144.5-86.5) in a tri-match at Koehler Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

  • Naihomy Garcia picked up a victory in the 100-yd butterfly, posting a time of 1:04.62
  • Prior to the meet, the East Stroudsburg University athletic department honored senior Erin Brandeburg for her accomplishments both in the pool and in the classroom. A native of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, she will graduate this spring with a degree in exercise science with a concentration in pre-professional therapeutic sciences. She plans to pursue a doctorate in physical therapy from Messiah University after graduating.

How It Happened
  • The Warriors took third place in the opening relay, the 200-yd medley relay, as Jenna Johnson, Rachel Heggenstaller, Samantha Grayauskie and Vera Renshof combined to clock a time of 1:58.78.
  • In the 1650-yd freestyle, Maddie Tafe took second with a time of 20:13.97.
  • Alyssa Brown was the top Warrior in the 200-yd freestyle, besting her previous best mark (2:10.03) with a time of 2:08.66 for fifth place.
  • Vera Renshof nearly earned a PSAC mark in the 100-yd backstroke, taking second place with a time of 1:03.16.
  • Rachel Heggenstaller paced ESU with a fourth-place finish in the 100-yd breast stroke (1:14.31).
  • Naihomy Garcia nearly earned a conference mark in the 100-yd freestyle, with a time of 57.01 for third place.
  • Samantha Grayauskie took fifth in the 200-yd backstroke (2:28.66).
  • Mia Estep was another Warrior that almost posted a PSAC time, as the freshman tallied a 2:37.17, less than a second away from the qualifier mark of 2:36.26. She grabbed second-place in the event for four points.
  • Vera Renshof led three Warriors in the 500-yd freestyle, with a time of 5:44.87 for fifth place.   
  • Garcia's win in the 100-yd butterfly came next, tallying a time of 1:04.62, to give ESU nine points. She bested four Golden Bears and a Golden Falcon in the event.
  • Heggenstaller grabbed runner-up honors in the 200-yd individual medley, clocking a season-best mark of 2:23.77 for four points.
  • In the final relay, the Warriors took third, as Garcia, Tafe, Jenna Johnson and Vera Renshof combined for a time of 1:45.86.
