EAST STROUDSBURG – Not even the rain soaked surface could slow down the top-ranked East Stroudsburg University field hockey team as the Warriors scored five second-half goals to take down Bentley, 6-0, on Sunday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
With the victory, the Warriors set the school record for the longest overall winning streak in program history at 12 games. ESU moved to 5-0 on the season and the Warriors' 12-game unbeaten streak dates back to November 5, 2022. Bentley dropped to 1-3 after the Falcons battled their fourth straight ranked opponent.
ESU continued to dominate the opposition as the Warriors have now outscored their opponents, 29-4, and outshot them 163-15 through a handful of games.
With the ESU leading 1-0 at the break, the Warriors exploded for four goals within a three minute stretch of the third period to pull away from Bentley.
Notables
- Senior Madison Kline and junior Jady van Gils each scored a pair of goals to lead the Warriors offensively. The scores were the fourth and fifth of season for Kline, while van Gils registered her second and third goals.
- Freshman Minke Klijn found the back of the net for the second time this season and fellow classmate Jolien Zoetman registered her first collegiate goal
- The Warriors assisted on five of six goals, led by senior Maddy Barbush (3) with a pair while graduate student Lia Parker (4), senior Lisa Larsson (2) and sophomore Emma Friend (1) were each credited with one
- Senior goalkeeper Amy Supey improved her record to 5-0 after playing 50 minutes in net and freshman Jet Vermeulen subbed in for the final 10 minutes
- The Warriors finished with the edge in shots (29-3), shots on goals (20-0) and penalty corners (14-4)
- Head coach Sandy Miller notched her 484th career win this afternoon, needing three more victories to move into third all-time in NCAA Division II
