LOCK HAVEN – After assisting the Warriors to a 2-1 weekend at the D'Youville University Tournament, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced on Monday that East Stroudsburg University volleyball libero Makayla Baca was named the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Baca averaged 5.9 digs per set, .979 reception percentage (1 error, 48 attempts), and also had seven aces, seven assists and three kills. In a 3-0 sweep of D'Youville on Friday, Baca had a match-high 22 digs, two aces and 3 points. The Santa Fe, New Mexico native followed that with 25 digs, three assists, one ace and one kill against West Liberty, before closing out the weekend with 18 digs three assists, one ace and one kill in a three-set win over Lake Erie.

Among PSAC rankings, the senior is third in digs per set (5.04) and fourth in total digs with 121.  

Baca garnered the first weekly award of her career and for ESU this season. Additionally, she became the first Warrior to receive the honors since teammate Anna Coulter back on September 12, 2022.
