Warriors Tally Nine PSAC Qualifying Marks in Season Opening Win against Cedar Crest

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Highlighted by nine PSAC qualifying marks and first-place finishes in all 12 individual events, the East Stroudsburg University women's swimming team opened the 2024-25 season with a dominant 152-78 victory over Cedar Crest on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse.

The Warriors (1-0) began their campaign with the win, while the Falcons (0-1) opened the season with a loss.

Notables

  • Six Warriors booked their trips to York for the PSAC Championships in February. Vera Renshof (50 free, 100 free), Anique Hazebroek (500 free, 1000 free), and Anna Stauffer (50 free, 100 free) each posted two conference qualifying marks. Additionally, Tamara Engler (100 breast), Kennedy Leveto (100 breast), and Brianna Wasem (50 free) opened the season with PSAC-qualifying times.
  • ESU secured the top times in all 14 events, conceding points only in both relays.

How It Happened

  • 200 Medley Relay: ESU's Mackenzie Spence, Engler, Hazebroek, and Wasem posted the top time of 1:52.79.

  • 1000 Free: Hazebroek notched the first PSAC mark of the season in the first individual event, clocking 11:01.19, besting the conference standard by over 10 seconds to take first.

  • 200 Free: Wasem touched first with a time of 2:02.62, followed closely by Sophia Fishman (2:04.08).

  • 50 Back: Spence earned first place with a time of 30.29.

  • 50 Breast: Leveto claimed her first individual win of the season with a time of 31.98.

  • 100 Fly: Avery Fohring narrowly missed a PSAC qualifying time (1:01.48). Emily Gambler (1:02.30) and Ava Palochik (1:04.47) followed in second and third.

  • 50 Free: Renshof, the reigning PSAC runner-up, cleared the qualifying mark with a time of 25.31. Wasem (25.31) and Stauffer (25.33) also qualified for the conference in impressive debuts.

  • 100 Free: Renshof immediately tallied her second PSAC time of the meet, clocking 53.14. Stauffer also earned another PSAC berth with a second-place finish (53.33). Fishman took third (57.18).

  • 100 Back: Palochik led the way with a time of 1:03.41, while Spence (1:03.98) and Vachout (1:07.86) took second and third.

  • 100 Breast: Engler (1:08.59) and Leveto (1:09.44) both bested the PSAC qualifying mark, finishing first and second.

  • 500 Free: Hazebroek (5:21.80) earned her second PSAC mark of the day, while Sam Grayauskie took second (5:49.62).

  • 50 Fly: Fohring captured her second first-place finish (27.65).

  • 200 IM: Fohring then secured her third victory of the day (2:21.63).

  • 200 Freestyle Relay: The team of Leveto, Nina Marchese, Mia Estep, and Gabby Ciesla finished first with a time of 1:49.39, closing the meet with a strong performance.

  • ESU will preview the PSAC Championship pool on Friday, Oct. 11, at the PSAC Fall Invite (1 p.m.) and PSAC Fall Sprint Frenzy (5 p.m.) at the Graham Aquatic Center.
