SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The ninth-ranked East Stroudsburg University women's wrestling team earned a 36-3 win over New England but fell in a close 26-21 match to Western New England on Saturday at the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center.
The Warriors are now 1-2 through three dual matches. The host Golden Bears improved to 2-0, while the Pilgrims fell to 0-2.
Notables:
- Emily Klein and Zoe Gress each picked up two victories.
- Alanna Barberio, Waverly Kane Long, and Selina Moore all posted wins against the Golden Bears.
- Against the Pilgrims, Olivia Palmer, Cadence Howard, Paityn DeLong, Jade Huerta, Dynisty Williams, and Brooklynn Ayala added wins to their season totals.
- The Warriors held a 20-13 lead over Western New England after Moore earned a pin at 145, but the Golden Bears secured the victory with two falls and a decision win at 207.
- Leading 8-1 after 117 pounds, the Warriors swept the final seven matches to pick up their first dual win of the season against New England.
