ELMIRA, N.Y. – In their first dual following the ESU Open on Sunday, the No. 13 East Stroudsburg University women's wrestling team fell to No. 9 Elmira, 31-19, on Wednesday evening inside Speidel Gymnasium.
The Warriors dropped to 0-1 on the season, while the Soaring Eagles (1-0) notched a victory in their opening dual.
Notables
- Alanna Barberio (117), Olivia Palmer (124) and Tiffani Baublitz (160) secured wins for the Warriors.
- Baublitz, ranked No. 5 in the latest NWCA NCAA rankings, improved to 6-0 on the season after capturing the ESU Open title at 160 pounds on Sunday. She recorded a ranked victory by pinning Skyler Chakouian at the 1:38 mark.
- ESU briefly led 11-10 after Palmer's pin, but three consecutive wins by Elmira extended their lead to 23-12. Baublitz cut the deficit to six at 23-17, but Elmira secured the match with victories at 180 and 207.
- The Warriors earned three of four wins in extra matches, with Gianna Amendola, Dynisty Williams and Cadence Howard adding victories to their season total.
