KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the first time since 2019, the East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team is ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25, coming in at No. 21 in the latest poll announced on Tuesday.
The Warriors (3-0) opened the season with three consecutive shutout wins over Slippery Rock (2-0), Bloomsburg (1-0), and previously ranked West Chester (1-0).
ESU has scored four goals through three games, with Nia Chinapoo, Abby James, Sophia Lowery, and Sydnie Wright all finding the back of the net. Chinapoo and James have also contributed assists, while Maddie Lamb and Natalie Schooley have helped set up goals.
Goalkeeper Emmy Clarkson has yet to concede a goal in 270 minutes this season. The reigning PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week has made nine saves, including four against Bloomsburg and West Chester. ESU is one of 13 NCAA Division II teams that have not allowed a goal among 251 squads.
The Warriors face a tough test on Wednesday as they travel to No. 8 Kutztown for a 7 p.m. match against the Golden Bears.
