STROUDSBURG, Pa.- The East Stroudsburg University softball team who recently moved up to No. 10 in the latest NFCA Coach Poll won their first game at the Atlantic Regional over Bowie State 3-0 Thursday. The Warriors will play Shippensburg at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow depending on weather.

Notables:
Taylor Lipkins led off for the Warriors and finished with three hits, including a double, one run scored and a stolen base.
Sarah Davenport tossed a seven-inning shutout, striking out 16—just one shy of her season high of 17. With the win, Davenport tied the program's career record with 56 victories and is now six strikeouts away from 700.
With the victory, the team has broken the program's single-season wins record for the fourth consecutive season. In 2021, the team tied the record set at the time.
The Warriors have now won seven straight games against the Bulldogs, including the last three NCAA contests at Creekview Park.

How it happened:
Bowie State threatened early, putting two runners on in the first and loading the bases in the third, but both times Davenport pitched out of the jams to keep the game scoreless.In the bottom of the third,
Taylor Lipkins smashed a double and later scored on a sacrifice fly to give ESU the first lead.
The Warriors struck again in the fourth after a
Katie Master walk and a
Kinsley Proepper double set up
Shannon Edelman's RBI single. ESU added another run in the fifth when
Delaney Ridgell put the ball in play, allowing
Tulana Mingin to score and extend the lead to 3-0, which held as the final score.

The Warriors will face the winner of Shippensburg and West Chester, with the game tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m., pending weather conditions.

Scouting Shippensburg:
The Raiders had five players earn All-PSAC East honors, led by Caitlyn Martell, who was named to the first team at shortstop. Reagan Bauman (designated player), Sarah Sabocsik (outfielder), and Brie Wilmot (first baseman) were second-team selections. Shippensburg reached the second day of the PSAC Championship Tournament before falling to Bloomsburg.
Head coach Alison Van Scyoc is in her ninth season and has now led the Raiders to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2023, Shippensburg earned the No. 2 seed after capturing the PSAC Championship.
