EDINBORO, Pa. - The East Stroudsburg University men's cross country team opened their 2025 season with a 4
th place finish at The Doug Watts Open on Saturday at Penn West University Edinboro.
The Warriors opened in a strong fashion with their five scorers in the top 34 places in the race earning a total of 108 points. Finishing ahead of the Warriors was Slippery Rock, IUP, and Edinboro claiming the top three team places. A total of 11 teams and 109 individuals completed the 6-kilometer race.
Leading the Warriors was sophomore
Bryce Keenoy finishing in 11
th place with a time of 19:59.60. Senior
Evan Wooby claimed second for the Warriors with a 19
th place finish in 20:22.50. Rounding out the scoring for ESU was Aiden Voth at 26
th place in 20:34.50,
Liam Hansberry at 33
rd in 20:48.10, and
Ethan Holcomb at 34
th in 20:48.40.
Close behind was Senior
Brian McGarrity at 35
th with a time of 20:48.90 and Ben Pentz rounding out the Top seven with a 39
th place finish in 20:56.10.
Saturday's season opener provided a great tune-up meet for East Stroudsburg and seven other Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference schools to preview the course that will host the PSAC Championships later this Fall.
The Warriors are back in action Saturday, September 7
th at the Kutztown DII/DIII Challenge in Kutztown, Pa.
