PREVIEW: Women's Basketball Hosts West Chester for White Out Game

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team continues its three-game homestand Thursday, hosting West Chester for the White Out game.

GAME INFORMATION 

ESU Athletics and the Student Activities Association (SAA) have organized a White Out game for the women's and men's basketball doubleheader versus West Chester. ESU students, make sure to get to both games before tipoff to receive ESU spirit gear, including a White Out t-shirt for the games. Other gear that will be given away before the games are headbands, pom poms, and boom sticks. During halftime of both games, ESU students will be eligible for halftime giveaways, including two trips each to the American Museum of Natural History in New York City and Hersheypark! 
 
EAST STROUDSBURG NOTES      

  • The Warriors continue their three-game week, closing out the stretch with two home matchups against West Chester on Thursday and Millersville on Saturday. 
  • The ESU women's basketball team enters the matchup 11-8 overall and 6-6 in conference action.  
  • Brooke Droege has ESU's lone PSAC East Athlete of the Week award so far this season, winning the honor on Nov. 18. She totaled 35 points, 15 rebounds, eight steals, and three blocks across two games.      
  • Consecutive starters for the Warriors have been Lacie KringeAvery WhiteBrooke DroegeBrie Droege, and Caitlin Marten.  With this lineup, the Warriors have gone 8-6. 
  • The Warriors average 63.6 PPG, 37.1 RPG, 14.9 APG, 10.8 SPG, and have shot 39.0% from the field.      
  • Against PSAC opponents, the Warriors average 64.4 PPG, 35.8 RPG, 14.6 APG, 10.4 SPG, and have shot 40.0% from the field.    
  • Despite ranking 13th in the conference in scoring offense, the Warriors sit sixth in scoring defense, holding opponents to 62.2 points per game.     
  • 13 of ESU's 19 games have been decided by 10 points or fewer, with the Warriors owning an 8-5 edge in those contests.     
  • The Warriors are most productive after halftime, averaging 32.7 points in the second half versus 30.5 in the opening half.    
  • Brie paces the Warriors with 14.7 points per game and has notched 10 games of 15 or more points. She has led the team in scoring 10 times this season and four times in rebounds. Her performance against Shepherd pushed her past 500 career points as a sophomore. 
  • Brie has been an efficient scorer for the Warriors, making 46.4% of her shot attempts from the field. That figure is the seventh best in the conference. She also ranks sixth in free throw percentage, making 35 of 40 attempts.  
  • The Warriors are third in the PSAC in turnover margin (3.63) and fifth in steals per game (10.84). Jess Devine leads ESU in steals per game, averaging 2.2, the 12th-most in the PSAC.     
  • Kringe, Marten, and Brie all average above 5.0 rebounds per game. Marten leads with 5.7 RPG and ranks 22nd in the conference. 
  • Kringe and White rank 9th and 12th respectively in the conference in assists per game.    

WEST CHESTER NOTES    

  • The Golden Rams enter the contest 9-8 overall and 5-6 in conference action.  
  • West Chester is on a one-game losing streak after a 73–50 loss to Lock Haven on Saturday.  
  • Over the past five games, the Golden Rams are 2–3, with their wins coming against Shippensburg and Shepherd.  
  • West Chester averages 64.0 PPG, 37.6 RPG, 16.4 APG, 9.9 SPG, and have shot .416 from the field.  
  • West Chester's scoring offense ranks 12th in the league, while their scoring defense ranks seventh, limiting opponents to 62.4 PPG.  
  • The team ranks seventh in the PSAC in field goal percentage (41.6%), seventh in defensive RPG (26.5), third in assist/turnover ratio (0.94), and second in APG (16.35).  
  • The Golden Rams have three players averaging more than nine points per game, led by Macie McCracken at 10.3 points per game.  
  • Lena Stein leads the team in rebounds per game (5.4) and in steals per game (1.6).  
  • Marianna Papazoglou averages 5.0 rebounds per game, while three Rams average more than two assists per contest. Ava Mazur and Kimi Sayson rank 17th and 23rd, respectively, in the PSAC.  
  • Consecutive starters have been Erin Daley, Lena Stein, Bella Mazur, Kimi Sayson, and Jordin Tate.  

SERIES HISTORY    

  • ESU is 33-87 in all-time against West Chester. 
  • The Warriors are 18-24 in home matchups against the West Chester, while the Golden Rams have won the last eight meetings.  
  • ESU's last win in the series came on Feb. 29, 2020, when the Warriors defeated West Chester, 51–43.
