PREVIEW: Women's Basketball Welcomes Mansfield for Midweek Matchup

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team welcomes Mansfield for a midweek matchup on Wednesday, February 11 at 5:30 p.m.

EAST STROUDSBURG NOTES  

  • The Warriors welcome Mansfield for a midweek matchup on Wednesday, February 11 at 5:30 p.m. 
  • The ESU women's basketball team enters the matchup 14-9 overall and 9-7 in conference action. 
  • The Warriors won three straight games before falling to Shepherd on Saturday, 74-68.
  • Consecutive starters for the Warriors have been Lacie KringeAvery WhiteBrie Droege, and Caitlin Marten.    
  • The Warriors average 65.6 PPG, 37.7 RPG, 14.3 APG, 10.4 SPG, and have shot 40.1% from the field.         
  • Against PSAC opponents, the Warriors average 67.1 PPG, 36.9 RPG, 13.8 APG, 9.9 SPG, and have shot 41.3% from the field.       
  • The Warriors now rank ninth in the conference in scoring offense and are sixth in scoring defense, holding opponents to 62.6 points per game.        
  • 15 of ESU's 23 games have been decided by 10 points or fewer, with the Warriors owning a 9-6 edge in those contests.        
  • The Warriors are most productive after halftime, averaging 34.7 points in the second half versus 30.6 in the opening half.       
  • Opponent production is the highest in the fourth quarter, as the Warriors give up 17.2 PPG in the final quarter.  
  • Brie paces the Warriors with 15.3 points per game, ranking her eighth in the PSAC in PPG. She has led the team in scoring 12 times this season and five times in rebounds.  
  • Brie has been an efficient scorer for the Warriors, making 46.4% of her shot attempts from the field. That figure is the ninth best in the conference. She also ranks sixth in free throw percentage, making 50 of 56 attempts.     
  • The Warriors are fourth in the PSAC in turnover margin (3.22) and fifth in steals per game (10.43). Jess Devine leads ESU in steals per game, averaging 2.2, the 10th-most in the PSAC.        
  • Brie and Marten each average 5.5 rebounds per game, ranking 24th and 25th in the league, respectively.
  • Avery White ranks third on the team in scoring at 11.4 points per game and leads the team with 72 assists.
  • White and Kringe rank 12th and 13th in the conference in assists per game, while Jess Devine is 21st at 2.7 APG.
  • The Warriors' highest scoring game came against Millersville, defeating the Marauders 81-54. 
  • ESU shot 50.9% from the field against Bloomsburg, its highest field-goal percentage of the season.
  • In the PSAC standings, ESU sits in third place behind Lock Haven and Kutztown. 

MANSFIELD NOTES  

  • The Mountaineers enter the contest with a 3-20 overall record and a 1-15 mark in conference play. 
  • Mansfield snapped a 15-game losing streak Saturday, Feb. 7, with a 67–65 overtime win over Millersville.
  • The Mountaineers rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring Millersville 11-1 to force overtime. A three-pointer by Maya Dickerson and seven points from Katie Sheeler, including a last-second layup, lifted Mansfield to a 67-65 win over the Marauders. Mansfield's leading scorer, Sheeler finished with 28 points, shooting 10-for-22 from the field.
  • The Mountaineers average 59.0 PPG, 37.2 RPG, 10.5 APG, 8.5 SPG, and have shot 32.2% from the field. 
  • Sheeler ranks second in the conference in PPG 17.7), fourth in SPG (2.6), and 18th in APG with 2.8. 
  • Leading the team in rebounds per game is Jenna Kasmierski. She averages 5.6 per game and has totaled 30 in the past four games. 
  • Mansfield's offense ranks 16th in the league, while its defense allows a league-high 78.1 points per game.
  • The Mountaineers average 27.3 points in the first half and 30.1 in the second, while giving up 37.7 points before halftime and 39.1 in the second half.
  • Consecutive starters for the Mountaineers include Sheeler, KJ Gordon, Amiyah Nguyen, and Paley Adams. 

SERIES HISTORY      

  • ESU is 69-18 in all-time against Mansfield, going back to 1981. The Warriors won the past four meetings and have gone 23-2 in the past 25 meetings.
  • ESU is 30-13 when at Mansfield and 39-5 when hosting.  
  • In their most recent matchup, the Warriors defeated the Mountaineers 59-53 on Jan. 15.  
  • Brie Droege recorded her first double-double with 17 points and a career high of 10 rebounds. Brie also grabbed two steals and posted two blocks. Lacie Kringe added 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists, one block, and four steals. Avery White rounded out the top scorers with 13 points, grabbed four rebounds, one steal, and had four assists. Jess Devine and Lilly Riggi each grabbed three steals, while Devine added four assists and grabbed five rebounds. Caitlin Marten grabbed a career high of 11 rebounds, including seven defensive rebounds.
