Warriors Rally Past Raiders on Senior Day

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team earned a Senior Day win over the Shippensburg Raiders Saturday afternoon.  

The Warriors are now 16-9 overall and 11-7 in conference action, while the Raiders dropped to 3-22 overall and 2-16 in the PSAC. 

Notables 

Avery White led the floor with 23 points, Brie Droege followed with 18, while Lacie Kringe rounded out the top scorers with 17 points. Kringe also grabbed six rebounds and a team-high five steals. Jess Devine had seven assists, three rebounds, and two steals. 

How it Happened 

The Raiders started with an early 9-0 lead, before ESU got on the board with 3:05 remaining in the first quarter on a Kaitlyn McGeary layup. Kringe followed with a layup off a Brie steal. Brie knocked down a three-pointer at the 0:49 mark to give the Warriors their first lead at 10-9. She later added a jumper assisted by Devine, but a Raider buzzer-beater three gave Shippensburg a 14-12 edge at the end of the quarter.

The Raiders opened the second quarter with a basket before White answered with a three-pointer at 9:33. Brie added consecutive baskets to put ESU ahead by three points, 19-16. Kringe converted a three-point play which sparked a 9-0 Warrior run. The quarter closed with a pair of Raider baskets and a Kringe layup to maintain ESU's advantage.

Shippensburg tied the game at 30 early in the third with a 6-0 run. White responded with back-to-back baskets, including a three-pointer, but the Raiders countered with a three of their own to knot the score at 35 near the seven-minute mark. Devine hit a jumper and Kringe added a layup off another steal. Shippensburg's 7-0 run put the Warriors behind by five, 46-41. ESU retook the lead with two baskets from White and a layup from McGeary, 47-46. 

Brie's second three-pointer of the game at 7:04 in the fourth quarter sparked an 8-0 run, pushing the Warriors ahead 59-50. Devine added a layup at 2:22, and Brie followed with two more layups, including an and-one opportunity. White sealed the win with two free throws in the closing moments.
