Five Warriors in Double Figures as ESU Earns Win Over Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team extended its win streak to three with a 76-73 win over Bloomsburg on Wednesday night. 

With tonight's win, the Warriors improved to 14-8 overall and 9-6 in conference play, while the Huskies dropped to 11-11 overall and 7-8 in the PSAC. 

Notables 

Avery White led the Warriors with 19 points, grabbed two rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Lacie Kringe followed with 13 points, four assistsm two rebounds, and two steals. Jess Devine added 13 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Brie Droege and Kaitlyn McGeary both scored 10 points. Brie grabbed five rebounds while Emma Thornton led the team with six.  

ESU shot an efficient 50.9% from the field and scored 23 points off the bench. 

How it Happened 

White ended Bloomsburg's early 7-0 run with a three-pointer at the 6:00 minute mark. Kringe followed with a jumper at 5:34 to cut the deficit to 7-5. Baskets from McGeary and Kringe later pulled ESU within four, 16-11. The quarter ended with a Huskies three-pointer and a Devine layup, sending Bloomsburg into the second quarter leading 20-14. 

After the Huskies opened the second quarter with two free throws, Caitlin Marten and Kringe made consecutive baskets around the eight-minute mark. Layups from Devine and Thornton, along with a free throw from White, trimmed the deficit to three. Free throws from Thornton and Brie gave ESU its first lead at 27-26 with 3:31 remaining. Kringe converted a three-point play moments later, and Brie's three-pointer pushed the Warriors' advantage to seven, 33-26. The Huskies ended the first half with a 9-3 run to send ESU into the half ahead by just one point, 36-35.  

The teams traded baskets to open the third quarter, with White and McGeary scoring for ESU. Bloomsburg hit consecutive three-pointers at 6:12 to take the lead, 46-44. The Huskies extended the Warriors deficit to seven points with 10 made free throws, 56-49. ESU responded with three straight baskets from Devine, White, and Kringe to pull within one, 56-55. ESU took the lead at 57-56 off a layup from Thornton at the 1:53 mark. White capped the Warriors 10-0 run with two free throws.  

Brie made a jumper and converted two free throws early in the fourth quarter, 63-60. Consecutive layups from Devine and Kringe extended ESU's advantage to five at the 5:20 mark, 69-64. A layup from White and free throws from Devine sealed the Warriors win, 76-73.
