LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — After leading the Warriors to two 6-1 wins over Kutztown and Millersville last week,
Lea Stefanovic was named the PSAC East Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Stefanovic's play at the top of the lineup helped ESU set a new record single-season winning streak with eight-straight victories. Stefanovic went 3-1 on the week, winning both of her doubles matches and picking up a singles win against Millersville. On Tuesday, she defeated Kutztown's Ashlyn Phy and Ryleigh Bohning out of the second spot in doubles play, 6-1. Against Millersville to end the week, she took down the Marauders' second pairing of Mia Gassert and Annika Rojas, 6-4. Then, in the No. 1 singles match, she took down Lauren Hayes, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
This marks the third time Stefanovic was named the PSAC East Athlete of the Week this season, the fourth time total in her career. It's also the fifth time a Warrior has been named the top athlete in the PSAC East, as
Ariel Kelsick and
Jenna Kastell were honored earlier in the spring. Her performance this season has helped ESU build a 14-4 record while going undefeated in three conference duals so far. Next up for the Warriors is their penultimate conference matchup of the season, traveling to West Chester to take on the Golden Rams at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15.
