INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After a record-setting 12 wins in a row, ESU women's tennis has been ranked No. 8 in the NCAA DII Atlantic Region rankings.
Out of the 16 wins the Warriors have boasted at the time of release, nine have come from opponents in the Atlantic, giving them a 9-4 record in the region. ESU has also faced four opponents from the PSAC East, defeating all of them.
East Stroudsburg is joined by No. 9 Bloomsburg to represent the East side of the PSAC while No. 1 Indiana (P.a.) and No. 2 Slippery Rock out of the West. Out of the Mountain East Conference is No. 3 Charleston (W.V.), No. 4 Fairmont State, No. 5 West Virginia Wesleyan, and No. 6 Frostburg State with No. 7 Shaw from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
A Warrior has been named PSAC Athlete of the Week six times this season between three different athletes.
Ariel Kelsick is the reigning award winner, earning her second on the year, while
Lea Stefanovic has earned the honor three times and
Jenna Kastell once.
Since the release, ESU has notched two more wins to close out the regular season. The first was a 4-3 victory over Chestnut Hill while the second was a 5-2 win over conference opponent Bloomsburg, the first the program has claimed over the Huskies in 47 years.
