Warriors Fall to Slippery Rock in PSAC Semifinals

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — The Warriors traveled to Bloomsburg, P.a. for the PSAC Semifinals, falling to No. 28 Slippery Rock, 4-0. This marks the first loss for ESU since March 9, the team's second of the spring season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The duo of Nia Vivas Montoya and Bega Gotor were the first match off, putting up their best effort, but falling, 6-0. Lea Stefanovic and Theresa Bauer were able to take two points in their match, but it wasn't enough, losing 6-2 and giving Slippery Rock the doubles point.

In the lone unfinished match, Ariel Kelsick and Jenna Kastell were up 4-3, just two points away from the win over the nationally ranked duo of Alissia Aleksandra Kivi and Nicole Kempton.

In singles play, Stefanovic was in a hard-fought match, taking three total games, but wasn't able to come out on top in either set. Bauer was the next Warrior off, also taking three games between the two sets but falling short. With Slippery Rock a match away from clinching the win, Audrey Conover was unable to prevent the score, ending the dual, 4-0.

Three singles matches went unfinished, including Kelsick's from the No. 2 spot. The junior fell in the first set, but rallied back to force a tiebreaker. At the time of the match end, she was down 3-1, a capable position for a comeback against Aleksandra Kivi, ranked nationally in singles.

Kastell put up a fight in her first set, pushing it to a tiebreaker, but she couldn't manage to take the victory. Alice Ehrenlechner, though scoreless in the first set, was mounting a strong response, up 5-3 in the second at the end of the dual.
