SCRANTON, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University women's volleyball team swept the Lackawanna Falcons on the road Tuesday evening. Set scores were 25-15, 25-18, and 25-12.
The Warriors improved to 7-5 on the season and have won six of their last seven matches.
Leah Novatne led the floor with 10 kills and a .643 hitting percentage, while Kelly Crites followed with nine kills and a .438 hitting percentage. Harry Berry went a perfect 6-for-6 on kills, while Selena Hochendoner hit .625 with five kills.
The Warriors totaled 42 kills and posted a .281 hitting percentage, while recording nine service aces. The Falcons finished with just 14 kills and three service aces.
Set 1: Crites led the team in the first set with nine kills and a .438 hitting percentage. Novatne followed with four kills on six attempts, while Berry went a perfect 3-for-3. ESU opened the set with a slight lead before Lackawanna came within two at 8-6. A kill from Crites at 16-8 put them ahead by eight before the Falcons responded with a short 3-0 run. Consecutive kills from Crites sealed the first set for ESU, 25-15.
Set 2: The Warriors opened the second set with a 3-0 run before Lackawanna tied it up at 3-3. A 6-1 run by the Warriors extended their lead to five at 9-4, but the Falcons responded with a 6-0 run to take a 10-9 advantage. The teams then traded points, with kills from Natalie Small and KiLee Kuhlman helping keep the score even. A kill from Hochendoner gave the Warriors a 14-13 edge and sparked an 8-0 run, highlighted by three kills from Hochendoner. A late 3-0 run by the Falcons cut ESU's lead to five at 21-16, but the final four kills from Hochendoner, Novatne, Kuhlman, and Kailynn Dupre gave the Warriors the second set, 25-18. Hochendoner hit .625 in the set, going 5-for-8 on attempts.
Set 3: The teams traded points to open the third set before an ESU 4-0 run gave them a 7-4 advantage. A 6-0 run extended their lead to 10 points at 17-7, highlighted by three service aces from Orava. A service ace from Allison Flynn put the Warriors in set-point position before a solo block from Georgia Stevens secured the 25-12 victory.
