Kaufman Named Warriors’ Championship Award Guys Athlete of the Week
EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior Amanda Kaufman has been named East Stroudsburg University’s Championship Award Guys Athlete of the Week for her play for the Warriors women’s tennis team during the spring season.
Kaufman (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) has a 9-2 record at No. 1 singles this spring, giving her 38 career wins at the No. 1 spot in her four years at ESU with four more non-conference matches remaining.
She went 4-1 against the PSAC East, including a 7-5, 6-4 win over Michelle Perez of Bloomsburg in a dual last Tuesday. She also pulled out a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win over Brittany Counts of West Chester and a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Hannah Pipkin of Kutztown earlier this season.
Kaufman, a three-time All-PSAC East selection in singles, is 11-6 overall this season and 46-38 in her career. She has played No. 1 singles since spring 2009, when she was named the PSAC East Freshman of the Year. She has been a member of two PSAC Tournament teams and the Warriors’ NCAA Tournament team in 2010.
Kaufman and the Warriors are at Marywood on Thursday and play WV Wesleyan and Charleston at Bloomsburg on Saturday. They travel to King’s next Monday before heading back to Bloomsburg for the PSAC Individual Championships next weekend.
