Katie Ord ’07, a two-time All-American during her playing career at East Stroudsburg, became the 11th ESU field hockey head coach on Aug. 5, 2026.
Ord completed 14 seasons with her alma mater as an assistant coach prior to her promotion and helped ESU capture two NCAA championships, four PSAC championships, and clinch 10 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. Since Ord joined the staff as a full-time coach, ESU has amassed a 206-82 (.715) record as the Warriors have become perennial contenders in the toughest conference the sport has at the Division II level. Before she was hired as an assistant coach, she completed a graduate assistantship and served as a volunteer coach for two seasons total between her graduation and hiring.
Since 2015, Ord has helped ESU earn multiple All-America nods, at least five All-PSAC selections, and make the NCAA Championship game four times. Ord and the ESU coaching staff were recognized for their efforts in their 2022 championship season, earning the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year award. In total, ESU’s players have earned four Honda Broderick Award nominations, two NFHCA National Player of the Year awards, three NFHCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year awards, 38 All-America honors, and 77 All-PSAC selections.
In the classroom, the ESU field hockey program has been one of the programs across all sports in the PSAC in terms of academic performance. The Warriors have had one NFHCA Division II National Scholar Athlete, eight CSC Academic All-Americans, 13 CSC Academic All-District recipients, three NCAA Division II Elite 90 winners, three PSAC Top 10 athletes, two PSAC Champion Scholars, and 35 NFHCA Scholars of Distinction. ESU also had the most student-athletes across all three NCAA Division levels make the 2025 NFHCA National Academic Squad, with 25 Warriors earning the accolade.
Ord was a four-year starter at back for ESU from 2003-06, earning All-PSAC Second Team and All-America honors as a sophomore. In her final season, she was named a First Team All-America and All-PSAC selection.
Ord serves on the Board of Directors with Labor of Love USA, a local non-profit organization and ministry. Additionally, she is the advisor for ESU’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a weekly program that encourages and equips student-athletes in their faith. Since 2018, Ord has served on the ESU Alumni Association Board of Directors and is entering her ninth term.
Ord graduated from ESU in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Coaching and completed her master’s degree in Exercise Science in 2008.
