Sara Rasley, a former standout at Division I Coastal Carolina, joins ESU's softball coaching staff as a graduate assistant for the 2017-18 season.
Rasley, an Easton native, returns to the area after a four-year collegiate career at CCU. She was a mainstay in the lineup throughout those four seasons, leaving the school tied for sixth in program history with 27 home runs. Rasley was a second team All-Big South performer as a junior in 2014 after hitting .273 with five home runs and 18 RBIs. She upped those totals as a senior, setting career-highs in hits (36), home runs (11), doubles (11) and RBIs (34).
The Chanticleers posted winning records in each of Rasley’s four seasons with the program, highlighted by a 41-15 record (20-4 Big South) during her junior campaign.
A Dean’s List student throughout college, Rasley graduated in December, 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. She served as a student assistant for the softball team during her final semester at Coastal Carolina, and she gained additional coaching experience in 2017 as an assistant for Pleasant Valley School District’s varsity softball program.
Rasley has volunteered for several organizations throughout the past five years, including frequent work for Miracle League, a group which provides people with disabilities an opportunity to play softball. She has also participated in Habitat for Humanity and Adopt-A-Family programs.
“We are excited to have Sara join our staff,” head coach Jaime Wohlbach said. “She had an excellent playing career at Coastal Carolina, and she will bring a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for the game to the program.”
