Hector Uribe, one of the top soccer coaches in the region, is in his third season on the coaching staff for ESU's women's soccer program during the 2010 campaign.
He has helped the Warriors to a pair of PSAC playoff appearances in his first two years, posting a 12-6-4 record and advancing to the semifinals in 2008 and going 11-7-2 with a quarterfinal appearance in 2009. The 2008 team defeated WV Wesleyan, 4-0, in the first round of the NCAA tournament for the first victory at the national level in school history.
Uribe has been involved with the Stroudsburg United Soccer Club since 2002. He is the director of travel club teams and has been the premier head coach for the boys and girls U17 and U19 A.C. Perugia teams since joining Stroudsburg United. He manages the club's coaches, provides coaching education and conducts coaching clinics, and trains premier level players for the club.
Uribe brought nine years of experience as a head collegiate soccer coach to ESU. He started the men's soccer program at California State-Monterey Bay in 1997 and guided the team to a top-three finish in the conference all five seasons. His squad was a four-time semifinalist in the conference tournament and was voted the team of the year for the 1999-2000 season. Most recently, he was head coach at Marywood University from 2003 through 2006.
His breadth of experience also includes stints with several Olympic Development programs.
Uribe was a four-time all-conference player during his career at California State-San Bernardino from 1988 to 1992, where he was the Big West Offensive Player of the Year. He holds a bachelor's degree in Physical Education and a Master's degree in Recreation Administration from Sacramento State.
He is the founder and director of Uribe Soccer Camps Association, a non-profit association for migrant, low-income and under-represented children and also established York Youth Sports Camps in Monterey, California. He was the girls varsity soccer coach at York High School for four years.
He has held the United State Soccer Federation "A" coaching license since 1996 and is also a certified goalkeepers coach.
