Rosa Veliky is entering her second year as the assistant coach in the 2022 season.
In her first season on the sidelines, Veliky helped the Warriors capture the No. 1 seed in the PSAC East and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. ESU had three All-PSAC selections including Ali Finch (First Team), Emily Meredith (Second Team), and Kenzie Guimont (Second Team). Finch also garnered D2CCA All-Atlantic Region First Team honors, the PSAC East Player of the Year award, a CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team selection and three PSAC East Athlete of the Week accolades.
Veliky returned to the Poconos after coaching the Bishop McDevitt Junior Varsity volleyball team the last two seasons. Prior to that, Veliky coached the Central Dauphin Middle School 8th grade team and a 16U team at the Fusion Volleyball Club in Camp Hill, Pa. Veliky began her coaching career in 2015 at the ESU volleyball camps and continued to assist over the next two summers.
As a player for the Warriors from 2014-17, Veliky played in 116 matches and served as the team’s primary libero over her last two seasons. For her career, she recorded 146 kills, 104 assists, 57 service aces and 1,120 digs. Her 1,120 digs ranked ninth (11th now) all-time when she left the program.
The Harrisburg, Pa. native still holds the program record for digs in a three-set match as she recorded 34 in a three-set win over New Haven. In her senior season, she started all 30 matches, ranked seventh in the PSAC overall in digs per set and was named PSAC Southeast Athlete of the Week after recording 6.71 digs per set at the Georgian Court tournament.
Veliky still competes in various indoor and grass tournaments throughout the region. She is very excited to bring her energy into the gym and help maintain and grow the level of excellence associated with this Warriors team.
Veliky earned a bachelor’s degree in Digital Media Technologies from East Stroudsburg.
