Charlie Brenneman completed his fourth season as an assistant coach at East Stroudsburg University in 2011-12 and served as a graduate assistant during the 2007-08 season.
Brenneman assists head coach Joey Rivera with the upper weights, as well as handling assigned recruiting and administrative duties.
On the mat, the Warriors have had eight wrestlers reach the NCAA Tournament in the last four years - including six at the top five weight classes (165 through 285). Two Warriors have also been Super Region 1 champions.
Two of those have been All-Americans in Shane Mallory, the Division II runner-up at 184 in 2010, and Ed Ebewo, who was the Super Region 1 champion and finished third in DII in 2012. Ebewo was also a national qualifier in 2011. Braden Turner (157) joined Ebewo as an All-American in 2012, placing sixth in the nation.
Other national qualifiers at the upper weights have been Thad Frick (165) and Brendan McKeown (174) in 2012, Jeff Jacobs (174), the Super Region 1 champion in 2011, and Chris Birchler (285), who placed in the top 12 in ESU's last year in Division I in 2009.
Brenneman is a 2004 graduate of Lock Haven University, where he went 35-11 at 174 pounds as a senior and reached the round of 12 at the NCAA Division I championships. He was named to the Academic All-America team and graduated with a 3.985 grade-point average, the highest in the nation among those who received Academic All-America recognition.
A 2000 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School, Brenneman finished his scholastic career with a record of 116-13 and was a two-time state runner up in Pennsylvania.

Brenneman first received national attention when he was a winner on the reality television show, "Pros vs. Joes", in which he competed with his brother Ben, an ESU alum. In the season finale, Charlie wrestled former Atlanta Braves relief pitcher John Rocker off the mound to win his competition.
